The Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Australia has issued an official Letter of Introduction endorsing the Vietnam Australia Innovation Network (NIC AU), signed by Ambassador Phạm Hùng Tâm on 1 November 2024 in Canberra.
Key Points from the Embassy’s Endorsement
Legal Status Confirmed
NIC AU is recognised as a non-profit network organisation connecting Vietnamese experts and scientists in Australia and other developed countries. It holds a valid business licence from NSW Fair Trading (granted 2 April 2020), with Australian Business Number (ABN) 65 918 654 630, and operates an independent bank account in accordance with Australian law.
Founding Context
NIC AU was established following the official State-level visit to Australia by the leadership of Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment on 2 December 2019. The Embassy notes that NIC AU has become “an important dialogue channel between the Vietnamese expert community at home and abroad, policymakers, businesses and investors across fields relevant to sustainable development and technology.”
Activities Recognised (2021–2024)
The Embassy’s letter specifically acknowledges:
- 3 international seminars on smart agriculture supply chains and precision farming — connecting experts and enterprises to share solutions for improving agricultural productivity and reducing environmental impact in Vietnam
- 1 science and technology exhibition — showcasing research projects and innovation solutions from the Vietnamese community in Australia, attracting interest from experts, businesses and government agencies
- Engagement from Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the National Innovation Centre, and over 300 enterprises
Yearbook Published
In early 2024, NIC AU published the “Smart Agriculture Vietnam Journey 2021–2023” yearbook — “Hành trình Nông nghiệp Thông minh, bền vững, tuần hoàn, xanh, hiệu quả, giảm khí thải” — under the patronage of Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The publication documents progress and prospects for Vietnam’s agriculture sector in digital transformation and sustainable development.
Media Support
Over 100 reputable media organisations in Vietnam and internationally have provided coverage of NIC AU’s activities, contributing to the network’s growing recognition within the community.
