NIC AU Experts Present to General Secretary and President Tô Lâm at Vietnam–Australia Tech Connect Forum
On 10 August 2026, at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the Vietnam Australia Innovation Network (NIC AU), together with the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Australia (SVAU), was honoured to welcome General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and Vietnam’s high-level Party and State delegation to the Vietnam–Australia Tech Connect Forum — the Vietnam–Australia Science, Technology, Innovation, Education and Training Forum.
The Forum brought together governments, universities, research institutes, businesses, investment funds, startups and experts from both countries, serving as a platform to strengthen bilateral cooperation across science, technology, innovation, investment, education, training and human capital development.
Recognising Vietnamese Talent Abroad
During the programme, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm recognised the efforts of Vietnamese student organisations in Australia — particularly initiatives promoting scientific research, innovation and connections among young intellectuals — noting how closely they align with Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, which identifies breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation as key drivers for Vietnam’s development in this new era.
He emphasised the role of Vietnamese students, postgraduate researchers and intellectuals studying and working overseas in acquiring advanced scientific and technological knowledge, building international knowledge networks, and bringing these values home — describing Vietnamese youth not only as beneficiaries of scientific progress, but as active drivers of it.
Three NIC AU Experts, Three Fields, One Stage
A highlight of the programme was the General Secretary and President’s visit to the science, technology and innovation exhibition presented by NIC AU and SVAU, where he heard firsthand about the research achievements and aspirations of young Vietnamese intellectuals in Australia:
- Huỳnh Tấn Đạt, President of SVAU, introduced the association’s work bringing together and empowering Vietnamese students, researchers and young intellectuals in Australia, with a particular focus on science, technology and innovation.
- Nguyễn Minh Triết, Head of Academic Affairs at NIC AU, presented his research on semiconductor technologies for biomedical applications, highlighting how advanced materials can address real-world challenges in healthcare and medicine.
- Nguyễn Thái Nhật, a member of the NIC AU Expert Board, shared his research directions in aerospace technology and artificial satellites — reflecting the growing presence of young Vietnamese researchers in strategic, emerging fields of science and technology.
These direct exchanges gave Vietnam’s Party and State leadership a first-hand look at the research capabilities and aspirations of young Vietnamese intellectuals working to connect international expertise with Vietnam’s science and technology priorities.
A Milestone in NIC AU’s Journey
For NIC AU, 10 August 2026 marks another important step in its mission to connect and empower Vietnamese experts, scientists and intellectuals in Australia — through its expert network, academic exchange initiatives, the Vietnamese Young Intellectual Forum in Australia, and the AURORA Scientific Research Awards. The directions shared by the General Secretary and President at the Forum reaffirm NIC AU’s role as a bridge between the knowledge and international experience of Vietnamese intellectuals in Australia and Vietnam’s development priorities.
